Uhm I don’t think that I really have an elaborate way of explaining of how I pick colours, but I guess I can try to explain what I normally do and what I keep in consideration. Also this will be quite lengthy, so brace yourself! ( / ’ A’)/
Handlettering tutorial by Mad (Sakana)~
Since I am lettering atm, I thought this is super helpful because people underestimate this part often. (or simply are never told how to do it right!) I don’t handletter, but I do draw bubbles by hand and the rules are still the same. :3
Though … I might be guilty of one or two hoagie bubbles. -cough- 9_9
Button – Also known as a pommel nut, pommel bolt, capstan rivet, or tang nut. In some swords, the button is screwed on to the end of the tang to hold the grip on.
Pommel – The counter-weight at the end of the grip.
Grip – Handle
Tang – The hidden part of the blade which the grip is mounted to.
Shoulder – The corner portion where the tang and the blade meet.
Guard – A blanket term for all the parts that protect the hand.
Quillon – Extended portions of the guard.
Écusson – or quillon block. The metal center where the quillons meet and all parts of the guard attach to.
Ricasso – Unsharpened portion of the blade which extends from the grip to the end of the guard.
Just finished TA for Will Weston’s Inventive Drawing class and I took pictures for personal inventive drawing notes HEH (since I already took this class year ago)
ALSO this is for yapoos (since she stopped going to school, I promised her I would get notes from Inventive Drawing lol)
the first three pictures is on body and the measurements (also body fat too hah) and the last three is er…arm exercise I had to do (YES he told me that drawing comes first, and then my TA job…and my ninja polishing techniques)

Hey folks!
My friend Joe Edens (responsible for the webcomic Rabbid Force) asked me how I make my word balloons non-elliptical, so I threw this tutorial together for him. It uses Photoshop, but you can do this in Illustrator and it probably applies to other art programs similarly.
In other news, the campaign for the second episode of my webcomic, The Super-Gay Adventures of Ross Boston, is live on Indiegogo. Donations are appreciated, but so is sharing the link wherever. Thank you!

Aaaah! Thank you for this! I’m just about to letter a big project and always wondered how to do this. <3
http://www.balloontales.com/ is also a great resource for more tutorials on digital inking/lettering! It’s what my professors taught from at SCAD. =)
